Nadia- the Secret of Blue Water tells the story of Nadia, a young girl of unknown origins, and Jean, a young French inventor. At the Paris World’s Fair, Jean, a young 14 year-old boy from Le Havre fell in love with Nadia, a 14 year-old circus performer, at first sight. Early in the story, the two kids are chased by Grandis Granva, Sanson, and Hanson; a group of jewel thieves who pursue Nadia for the blue jeweled pendant she possesses called the "Blue Water". While being chased, Jean makes a promise to Nadia to take to Africa so she can learn more about her past since she believes that is where her story starts. During their travels, they meet Marie, a 4 year-old orphan whose parents were murdered by a group called the Neo-Atlanteans led by a man named Gargoyle. After being rescued by Captain Nemo and his submarine, the Nautilus, the jewel thieves and the kids join forces and participate in the struggle against the Neo-Atlantean forces, who seek to dominate the world. Along
the way, Nadia and Jean has an on again-off again relationship, Grandis
develops a crush on Capt. Nemo, explore worldly mysteries and the powers of the
blue pendant, uncover Nadia's hidden family ties, and ultimately discover the
secret origins of Nadia. Jean hoped to one day find his missing father only to
learn that his father was killed by the Neo-Atlanteans.
After the group dealt with many issues onboard the Nautilus, Nadia, Jean, Marie, their lion friend King, and the Grandis Gang left the Nautilus after it sank to the bottom of the ocean. After being on an Island for a period of time, the group continued their trip to Africa. Once they arrived, the group discovered Nadia’s roots and learned that she was the daughter of the ruler of the lost city of Atlantis, who also turned out to be Capt. Nemo. Then Gargoyle arrived and kidnapped Nadia to take her Blue Water and use her against her father. In their final confrontation, Gargoyle kills Jean to make Nadia do what he says, only to have his butt kicked. Nemo told his daughter that in order to save the boy she loves; she had to wish to the Blue Water for it to happen. As she makes her wish, Gargoyle made one more try for the Blue Water, only to be turned to salt due to only Atlanteans could use the Blue Water and humans can’t. In the end, Jean is revived and he and Nadia, along with the others make their way home. Nemo dies trying to help them escape from Gargoyle’s headquarters, but asks Grandis to watch over his daughter for him before he died.
Many years after Gargoyles defeat, a grown up Marie told that Jean and Nadia married and they along with King are living at Jean’s lab in Le Havre, Grandis is still looking for her true love after Nemo’s death, Hanson became a wealthy man, and she and Samson married after she grown up into a beautiful woman.
